About the Role

We’re seeking a Director of Operations, a role we refer to internally as Director of Greatness to be the welcoming face, calming voice, and operational mastermind at the heart of our new luxury cat boarding lodge and St. Louis’ most trusted in-home pet care service.
This is a big job for a big personality- someone who can juggle phone calls, wrangle schedules, and make sure every cat (and dog) gets the royal treatment.

Key Responsibilities

Be the first point of contact for all incoming calls, charming prospects and clients alike while expertly managing their needs in our software.
Deliver timely, excellent communication to prospects, clients, and team members- if you’ve never met a question you couldn’t answer or a problem you couldn’t solve, you’ll fit right in.
Provide management oversight for Cattails Lodge and our in-home service 4-Legged Kids: This means staffing, ensuring our Playbook is followed, helping with care as needed, and dazzling new clients with tours and smooth intakes.
Master the Big 3: Communication, Clients, and Care. (Bonus points if you can juggle all three while holding a cup of coffee or an energy drink)
Keep the trains running on time (and the cats from napping on the keyboard) with strong organizational skills and a knack for proactive problem-solving.

The Details

Salary: $45-60,000/year based on experience with a 90-day kicker

Schedule: M-F, 7am–4pm at our office (63011), plus some evening/weekend on-call and occasional weekend shifts since pets don’t respect business hours

What is 4-Legged Kids?

We care for other people’s pets while they work or travel. Our clients trust us and we treat their fur family like our own! We are the largest pet sitting/ dog walking company in the STL area with a diverse team of over 30 pet lovers providing over 2500 visits a month for hundreds of clients from St. Louis city out to St. Charles County. We provide an excellent opportunity for flexible and rewarding work.

What else do I need to know about joining the 4-Legged Kids Team?

We are looking for pet lovers who understand and accept the responsibilities we will place on them- our clients depend on us! We do not just play with cute kitties and puppies. We walk dogs when it's 90 degrees or below freezing out. You may have to carry a dog up and down stairs, lift food bags or search under every couch and bed for a cat. We clean up after them, feed them, administer medication, and go above and beyond for our clients.

This business is variable and schedules will vary from day to day. We realize working under these flexible and changing conditions can be difficult for some people. This is the nature of our industry and your dependability in this area is crucial. If you enjoy change and variety in the workplace then this will be perfect for you!

You will receive ongoing education and training on various aspects of pet care and behavior.. You will be trained to handle unexpected situations in pet care and admin support is a phone call away.

We are looking for mature, responsible people who are reliable, patient, and capable of independent action. This full-time position starts between $45,000-$60,000 annually (DOE), working 40 to 45 hours per week. Does this range of compensation meet your expectations?*

This is a year-round position. Are you comfortable working and traveling in all four seasons? If the position meets your expectations, can you commit to it for at least 12 months?*

This position will require that you attend and/or perform some of our pet care services. Do you have the ability to walk multiple dogs in an outdoor environment? You may encounter the need to traverse steps, wet, slippery, and uneven terrain. You will be required to clean up animal waste. Some animals may require you to pick them up (lifting up to 50lbs.). You may also interact with the general public, and the dogs they may also own. Can you perform all the duties in the job description?*
